2015 Awards
Best park we visited in 2015: Drayton Manor (family) and Liseberg (adults only)
Honourable mention: Folly Farm Adventure Park & Zoo
Drayton Manor was the best of the family parks we visited this year. Thomasland is a big draw and with a large number of attractions in this area alone the little ones wont get bored. There is also a good selection of rides for thrill seekers too.
Liseberg is a beautiful park in Sweden. The atmosphere there was fabulous and the ride selection felt endless considering this park is in the city centre. Fabulous place.
Folly Farm is a fabulous place to spend the day as a family. Lots of wild animals in large enclosures, a barn area with lots of farm animals with meet & greets, lots of outdoor play areas, large indoor play area and a vintage playground. We didn't get bored at any point during our visit.
Best Value Food at a park: Safari Pizza & Pasta @ Drayton Manor
Honourable mention: Big Pizza Kitchen @ Blackpool Pleasure Beach
The Safari Pizza & pasta is located near the entrance to the zoo. As the name suggests they sell Pizza & Pasta which is available as meal deals. They do a family deal which includes 4 6" pizza's, 4 portions of wedges, 4 hot/cold drinks and 2 sides for £20.
The Pizza Kitchen at Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a pizza & pasta buffet restaurant. We were very impressed with the options available for the price. £8.50 for adults and £4.50 for children and includes soft drinks.
Top 3 Children/Family rides:
1. Diesel’s locomotive Mayhem @ Drayton Manor
2. Jumping Frogs @ Tayto park & Wonder Pets big circus bounce @ Blackpool Pleasure beach
3. George’s Dinosaur Adventure @ Paultons Park
Top 3 big/thrill rides:
1. Helix @ Liseberg
2. Cú Chulainn Coaster @ Tayto Park
3. Nemesis @ Alton Towers
Best children’s themed area: Peppa Pig World @ Paultons Park
Peppa Pig World is based at Paultons park near Romsey. It is home to 7 rides plus a number of attractions based on the popular TV show. The area has been done to a very high standard. Little things like the flowers and fencing are look like they have been pulled from an episode. Everything is easy to recognise which makes the area fantastic for all the little ones who visit.
Best value entrance fee: Drayton Manor
Drayton's on the gate price is only £36 which compared to a lot of the other big parks is a very reasonable price. They also offer a cheaper price for children under 4 years, seniors over 60 years and even pregnant ladies (and i believe they are the only park to do this).
If you know what date you plan to visit, then by booking online in advance the entrance fee is only £20 which is an absolute bargain! There aren't many places you can go for £20 these days.
Best Toilet/Baby changing facilities: Paulton’s Park
Honourable mention: Thomasland Toilet block @ Drayton Manor
Paultons has lots of toilet blocks which are easy to find. Each block has a good sized baby change area. In the female toilet block the toilet seats have toddler seats attached and step stools so if you are toilet training it makes it that little bit easier for you. Fabulous little thought.
The Thomasland toilet block is the newest block in the park which is very easy to see. In the middle of the block is the baby change area and a family room (along with some breastfeeding rooms should people wish to use them). There is plenty of room here for 3 or 4 people to chance their children which is really good.
Best Staff: Tayto Park
Tayto staff were absolute fabulous. So friendly and helpful. The crew on Cú Chulainn Coaster ran the parent swap beautifully. A lot of parks could learn a lot from this park!
